How many stocks do I need to hold to be diversified?
La versione italiana di questa pagina è in preparazione. Fino ad allora il testo è mostrato in inglese.
There is no fixed number of stocks at which a portfolio counts as diversified. Around 30 is often mentioned, but fewer may suffice if chosen carefully, and one study reported that most of the benefit of diversification comes from the first 15 to 20 stocks.
How varied your holdings are in terms of industry, company size and asset type matters more than the number of stocks.
