What is the uptick rule?
The uptick rule prohibits placing short sale orders at or below the last price, to prevent short selling from directly pushing prices down.
For example, if the last price is KRW 49,000, a short sale order can be placed only at a price above KRW 49,000. An exception is made for short selling by market makers for market-making purposes.
