IPOs & IPO Shares

What is an IPO (initial public offering)?

De Nederlandse versie van deze pagina is in voorbereiding. Tot die tijd staat de tekst in het Engels.

An IPO is the process by which a company first offers and sells its shares to the general public, for example in order to list on a stock market.

It is carried out either by offering newly issued shares to investors or by selling existing shares held by a small number of shareholders to the public so that they are widely held. This disperses ownership and enhances the company's ability to raise funds.
