Private Funds & Qualified Investors
Who can sell private funds?
Private funds are also sold by distributors qualified to sell funds, such as banks and securities firms, and a general private fund manager may also sell the general private funds it manages directly.
Even when an asset manager sells directly, sales-related rules such as the prohibition on unsound business practices apply accordingly. In either case, the distributor must verify whether the investor is a qualified investor.
