Qualified Investors

Who qualifies for a general private fund

All BNB Asset Management funds are general private funds and are open only to qualified investors as defined by the Capital Markets Act (Article 249-2).

01

Professional investors

Professional investors as defined by the Capital Markets Act, such as the state, the Bank of Korea, financial institutions and listed companies. Companies and individuals meeting certain requirements may also apply to a financial investment business to be designated as professional investors.

02

Individuals, companies or organisations investing at least the minimum

Investors who are not professional investors qualify if they invest at least the legal minimum (Enforcement Decree of the Capital Markets Act, Article 271-14).

KRW 300 million or more
Funds with leverage of 200% or less
KRW 500 million or more
Funds with leverage above 200%

The minimum applies to each investor individually; amounts contributed by several people are not combined. Distributors verify qualified-investor status at subscription.

Before You Begin

What to check, by type of client

Individual investors

  • Private funds are subscribed through a distributor; you cannot subscribe on this website.
  • Suitability and appropriateness rules do not apply to private funds by default, but qualified investors who are general financial consumers may ask the distributor to apply them (Financial Consumer Protection Act).
  • Retail investors may withdraw an application for an investment advisory agreement within the period set by law.

Companies & organisations

  • The minimum investment requirement applies to companies and organisations on the same basis.
  • If you invest as a professional investor, evidence of professional-investor designation may be required.
  • Required documents can differ by distributor and contracting channel, so please check in advance.

Institutional investors

  • A discretionary management agreement sets the investment scope and restrictions, and you may place reasonable limits on how assets are managed.
  • Mandate assets stay in an account in the institution’s name; deposits, withdrawals and the choice of custodian institution remain with the client.
  • Inquiries from institutional investors and distributors go to our main email address; please put [Institutional/Distributor IR] in the subject line.
