What is a switching (umbrella) fund?

A switching fund groups several funds under common collective investment rules so that investors can switch to another fund within the group.
Investors who request a switch are not charged a redemption fee. However, switching between funds with different legal forms, such as an investment trust and an investment company, is not allowed.
