Bonds, Interest Rates & Exchange Rates

How do you earn returns from investing in bonds?

Returns on bond investments consist of interest income received regularly and capital gains or losses arising from the difference between the buying and selling prices.

If you hold to maturity, you receive the principal and interest, but if you sell earlier, your gain or loss depends on the price at that time. You should also consider that high inflation reduces the real purchasing power of the interest you receive.
