Bonds, Interest Rates & Exchange Rates
The base rate was cut, so why did my bond's price fall?

Bond prices are determined by market interest rates, not the base rate, and market rates sometimes move in a different direction from the base rate.
According to FSS materials, there were periods in 2025 when the yield on 30-year Korea Treasury Bonds actually rose while the base rate was being cut or held. Rather than relying solely on the claim that 'bonds make money when the base rate falls', you should also consider the risk of price fluctuations.
