What is a TDF (target date fund)?

A TDF continuously adjusts its allocation between stocks, bonds and other assets according to the time remaining until the expected retirement date.

For example, it pursues both returns and stability by reducing the share of stocks and increasing the share of bonds as retirement approaches. The fact that asset allocation happens automatically does not mean principal is guaranteed.
