By when must I buy shares to receive a dividend?

To determine which shareholders may exercise rights such as receiving dividends, a company sets a specific date (the record date) and grants the rights to the shareholders listed on the shareholder register on that date.
Because Korean shares settle on T+2, you must buy at least 2 business days before the record date to be on the register on the record date. The record date must be set within 3 months before the date on which the rights are exercised and announced 2 weeks in advance, so check the record date in the company's disclosures.
