A government bond is a bond issued by the State, through National Assembly resolution and approval procedures, to raise funds for public purposes.
The repayment period and interest rate are set at issuance, and the face amount is repaid at maturity. Because it is money lent to the State, it is considered a relatively safe investment, but since it trades in the market after issuance, its price keeps changing with interest rates.
