Is the cash I keep in my securities account protected?

Under the deposit insurance system, not only deposits received by insured financial institutions but also investor deposits are protected.
Therefore, cash left in a securities account before buying shares may be protected, but investment products bought with that money whose payouts vary with performance, such as shares, funds and bonds, are not. The protection limit applies to the combined principal and interest per person per financial company, so check the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation's guidance.
