Private Funds & Qualified Investors

Can I ask for a closed-end private fund to be settled before maturity?

In principle, this is difficult. In a Financial Supervisory Service dispute mediation case, where the investment proposal stated a maturity of 15 years from the establishment date and the investor had filled in by hand and signed the risk disclosure and checklist, a request for settlement was not accepted merely on the claim that the investor had been told of a shorter term.

Because closed-end funds cannot be redeemed before maturity, check the maturity and the conditions for changing it carefully in the explanatory materials and the collective investment rules.
