How does the Financial Consumer Protection Act classify financial products?
The Act divides all financial products into 4 types: deposit-type, loan-type, protection-type (insurance) and investment-type products.
Stocks, funds, derivatives, trust contracts, discretionary investment contracts, P2P-linked investments and the like are investment-type products. If a product has attributes of two or more types, it is regarded as belonging to each of those types.
